Five or six people this week have noted me asking me for free art, especially claiming on the more "difficult" requests that I should do it purely to expand my artists skills. That's total bullshit. Honestly, if an artists isn't OFFERING free art, by the love of whatever god you believe in, STOP ASKING THEM FOR FREE ART.

You don't ask a surgeon to perform medical procedures on you to "help them get extra practice" for free, do you? You don't ask a carpenter to build you a house for some more experience, do you? So really, stop asking artists (all of them, not just me) to do your crappy requests for free.

Get in line with everyone else and pay them. If you can't afford it, find some other way to make it worth their while.

Every artists wants to be rewarded in some way for their effort. I have spent years teaching myself how to draw, teaching myself how to use a tablet, PAYING for classes to learn things I couldn't teach myself, and even now I'm in an art college learning to do what I already do even better. The art I produce is purely a representation of all the work I have already put into it, why would I give that away to someone who wouldn't even bother to put in their own effort to make it worth my time?

You may think its conceited, but artists need to eat too. Need to pay rent every month. Why do you feel like you are entitled to a skill I have worked so hard to get? I didn't get this for free, why should you? If you want it so badly, maybe you should actually take the time to learn how to draw. Oh, takes some effort? It's actually hard? Would take you a lot of practice? Yeah that's too damn bad for you.

I'm really sick of getting these requests as well as seeing my friends asked for them. You have no right to their art, they do not owe you anything, and especially don't say shit like it's for their own good. Chances are they could probably think of a character to draw for a challenge that is 100x better than anything you could ask them for.

So please, stop this lazy and greedy behavior and stop asking for free art. There are some artists who do take requests, go find them and ask them for free art. But don't use bullshit excuses to make your request sound better. Just own up to the fact that you are too lazy or don't give enough fucks to support artists who draw your crappy requests.
